THE WORLD AT HOME. $2100 Offered for sale for the first time from my personal collection, THE WORLD AT HOME is favorite among my ongoing series of modified Victorian hand mirrors. The silver has selectively been removed from the mirror, allowing an exquisite steel-point engraving to peek through. This unusual effect can be seen in the sequence of images accessed above (my own reflection in one of the images illustrates which areas are still mirrored). I have often displayed these mirrors flat on tables, as any hand mirror would be left, to be picked up and handled as such. With the tiny materials rolling around inside the handle and bottle, it is an enjoyable object in the hand.
