TWO KINDS OF COURAGE.
An imposing piece, COURAGE flips to reveal one of two
opposing compositions. On one side, a brass plate etched
with a daguerreotype image from 1848 entreats the viewer to
enter the man's mind via a handmade lens.
Moving the top paddle
revolves the piece to uncover a startling seaweed root ball,
with twin apertures set with gazing eyes.
The construction hangs from a chain
from antique steel nails.
This piece can be seen in production on my blog:
Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.
