MESMERISM is constructed of multiple pieces of Victorian
cutlery, splayed like stretched fingers into a ceremonial radius.
The energy generated by this design is softened by the use of
linen thread, which does the double duty of seeming to harness
the spread of the fork tines, while gently containing
the beating heart of the piece: a massive shard of raw opal.

This piece is the first to utilize my new chain design, based on
an archaic chain belt drive, which I have affectionately dubbed
'The Eskridge', for the kind soul who allowed me to study her
fragment of early nineteenth-century machinery. Thank you, Janet.
