Springing from the lovely gift of a beach-worn teacup handle,
DISSECTION serves several functions for me. The proportions of these
bits and pieces, coupled with the manner in which they are anchored
together, suggest a massive object, a sculpture 15 feet tall.
It is a miniature in mammoth dimensions.

Although the finger hole will fit a size 9 finger, and is indeed
wearable, it is pointedly oversized and is best seen as
a sculptural piece that references, and even mocks, fine
jewelry. As you peek into the nut (see detail views), you will
see, trapped under the lattice of old plastic, sparkling
'diamonds' that conceal the 'coquette's' innermost wishes (one
could even view the whole execution of the narrative as
coquettish in nature).
